I have been skating for 26 years now and never had a place to shred consistently unless it was the OG Brooklyn banks or da hills of SF. One memory I will always remember is being at Cheapskates in PA and watching Barker Barret, Dune, Coco Santiago n my favorite skater ever- boy king SEAN SHEFFEY and Mike V when he was on World, vegan and just super raw on street, vert or mini. He was illmatic back then. Point of the story is Im stoked to have built this park the last few months with Master Wizard. Not only did I learn a lot about how to build shit the right way I now have a place to just sweat it out and get shit down thanks WILL /Nate at the Proof Lab for bringing some good vibes into this magical place we call home. Welcome to our very first episode of Scenes Behind The Scenes, what will become a weekly clip showing what our daily skate is like. Not much glamour, more just about the fun and feeling of pushing the city and finding new and rethinking the old. In San Francisco, theres a lot to be said for the skating that happens apart from actual spots.

I once heard an accurate quote from Barker Barrett that i think puts it best, "the most fun you'll have skating here is to the store", its not that there arent plenty of spots here, its more that the feel of skating this city is found on the sidewalks, curbs, bumps and just finding new lines and reaching new levels of comfort and ease on the board, which I think is a unique quality to this place. It has certainly shaped my skating unmeasurably. SF style to me is a good push and having the mind to figure out the remains of this once skate mecca. Without getting too sentimental lets just say this is my attempt at bringing Barker's quote to life, or at least to the interweb. Hope you all enjoy, Viva La Rasa. - evan

A tale of Rasa Libre's day in Santa Cruz California amidst the annual Derby Q. Matt, Bryan, Evan and Zach united with Jesse and Toby Sunday afternoon for a leisure event. Sparkling the park with Rasa Libre goodies Matt got the kids and families hyped with boards and shirts. Leaving on a high note to the other "Orange" park in Santa Cruz led to some serious fun boarding. Some of it being captured in the video. Chris, Ryan, and I (Patrick) headed out to San Francisco last Saturday to finish up Ryan's part and hang out with the Rasa family. The first full day we were here, we skated all around the city and had a ton of fun downtown. Jesse came up from SJ and skated with us. He got this front smith too! Click all photos posted thus forth to see larger versions.

We took a day off to cruise around SF and check out some awesome scenery. Not missing a beat, we skated the next day from sun up to sun down. After a bit of spot doctoring by Jesse, we skated this new hubba. Mango launched a kickflip over it.

After people got their tricks, we headed down to the Haight St. area to eat at Asqew Grill. They welcomed us warmly with delicious food and also an odd admiration for the way our boards were placed near the wall. They even took photos for their own keeping.

After the meal, we enjoyed the warm sun glowing on Haight St and skated around.

This guy wandered over and tried to charge me a dollar for taking this picture. Pretty good hustle if you ask me... although his logic is not air-tight.<
